[NL] In haar praktijk noemt Famke haar werk ‘gebeurtenissen’. Hiermee bedoelt zij de letterlijke gebeurtenissen die plaatsvinden in haar atelier. Ze laat zich beïnvloeden door de onvoorspelbaarheid van de geknipte stukjes stof en papier die in de ruimte rondslingeren. Vanuit hier ontstaan beelden die zij van tevoren niet had kunnen voorspellen. Binnen het medium schilderen begeeft zij zich op het raakvlak tussen de manifestatie van een object in de fysieke ruimte en de geschilderde voorstelling op het platte vlak. Op de vlag die zij dit jaar maakte voor What the Flag?! is een scan van een ouder werk te zien. Het is een van de stukken papier, die doorgaans op de vloer van haar atelier verzameld liggen.
[EN] Regarding her artistic practice, Famke calls her work ‘happenings’. With this she refers to the literal events that take place in her studio. She allows herself to be influenced by the unpredictability of the pieces of fabric and paper that have been cut off and are scattered throughout the room. This is where the images take form, that she wouldn’t have been able to foresee. Within the discipline of painting, her artistic practice lays at the intersection between the manifestation of an object in the physical space and the painted imaging on a flat surface. The flag she made this year for What the Flag?! features a scan of an older work. It is one of the pieces of paper that are usually collected on the floor of her studio.
