Stefania Crișan (Roemeens, woont in Frankrijk) is geïnteresseerd in thema’s die verband houden met het Antropoceen en de helende werking van rituele praktijken, waarbij ze de paradoxen tussen het sublieme en de utopische hoop van een ecologisch discours in vraag stelt. De vlag Invoking Mosasaurs verwijst naar een rituele performance over het worden van de Mosasaurus. In deze performance versmelt Stefania Crisan haar lichaam uit het Antropoceen tijdperk met een lichaam uit het Krijt. Invoking Mosasaurs gaat over eten en gegeten worden door het mijnlandschap van de Euregio-Maas-Rijn. In dit proces wordt het lichaam-landschap een ruïne van de toekomst, ruïnes in omgekeerde richting (R. Smithson). De eerste fossiele resten van de Mosasaurus werden ontdekt in een kalksteengroeve in Maastricht, vlakbij de Maas. De vlag herinnert aan een verhaal over het uitsterven van de mosasauriërs naar analogie van ons mogelijke uitsterven, als reflectie op de klimaatverandering en het utopische verlangen om de entropie om te keren.

The flag Invoking Mosasaurs refers to a ritual performance about becoming the Mosasaur. In this performance, Stefania Crisan is merging her Anthropocene Era body to a body of the Cretaceous Period. Invoking Mosasaurs is about eating and being eaten by the mining landscape of the Euroregio-Meuse-Rhine. In this process, the body-landscape is becoming a ruin of the future, ruins in reverse (R. Smithson). The Mosasaur’s first fossil remains were discovered in a limestone quarry, Maastricht, near the river Meuse. The flag is reminding about a story of the extinction of Mosasaurs in analogy to our possible extinction, reflecting on climate change and the utopian desire of reversing the entropy.
