[NL] Centraal in het diverse werk van Alexis Gautier staat de ontmoeting en interactie met bepaalde plaatsen en ruimtes. Daarbij put hij uit lokale omstandigheden en alledaagse situaties, die hij vertaalt in artistieke gestalten. Verschillende elementen vinden hun weg in zijn werk, dat gekenmerkt wordt door toeval, improvisatie, poëzie en subtiele humor, en waarin polyfone vertaalprocessen zich voordoen. In zijn praktijk brengt hij werken uit verschillende contexten en media samen die samen een open verhalende ruimte vormen. Voor de What the flag?! uitwisselingseditie van 2021 stelde Gautier het werk op papier met de titel Sallie Gardner voor, een werk dat deel uitmaakte van zijn tentoonstelling Burning the Plot in het Leopold Hoesch Museum in Düren.
[EN] Central to Alexis Gautier’s diverse work is the encounter and interaction with specific places and spaces. In doing so, he draws on local conditions and everyday situations, which he translates into artistic forms. Different elements find their way into his works, which are characterized by chance, improvisation, poetry, and subtle humor, and in which polyphonic translation processes materialize. In his practice he brings together works from different contexts and media that together form an open narrative space. For the What the flag?! exchange edition of 2021 Gautier proposed the work on paper titled Sallie Gardner which was part of his exhibition Burning the Plot at the Leopold Hoesch Museum in Düren.
