2025 – What the Flag?! collection exhibition at the Kunsthaus NRW

The What the Flag?! project began in 2016 and has since built a rich collection of flags by a wide range of artists—both well-known and emerging, local and international.

To highlight this remarkable ongoing initiative, Kunsthaus NRW is showcasing 14 flags selected from earlier editions of What the Flag?! held across the Meuse-Rhine Euregion.

The selection was made by Kunsthaus NRW director Marcel Schumacher, Kunsthaus NRW curator Elke Kania, and WTF?! initiator Wouter Huis, and the flags are now on view in the garden of the Kunsthaus, creating a vibrant dialogue between past contributions and this year’s theme: How can we connect?
